South Georgia - Field work on king penguins

We spent 6 weeks in Hound Bay (South Georgia) to study the diving activity of king penguins in the Southern Ocean. 20 birds were equipped with GPS (latitude/longitude over time), time-depth recorders (measuring depth every second) and accelerometers (measuring acceleration in 3 axes). All devices were attached to the feathers of the lower back using waterproof ©TESA tape.
